BladeSpace Blade Servers

Blade Servers are one of the most efficienct ways to maximize datacenter space and capacity. A blade-based solution offers superior density and management capabilities than standalone servers with significantly reduced cabling complexity and greater power efficiency. Each enclosure is architectured for non-blocking throughput on all network and I/O devices. The modular, fault-tolerant design makes it easy for technicians to add and remove devices without interrupting service.

MDI has several turnkey Enterprise solutions based around Blade Servers, outlined below.

Scalable, Efficient Blade Server Architecture

Two Quad-Core Xeon 5500 CPUs, Up to 96GB of RAM, 3 x 2.5" HDDs, 4X DDR (20Gb) InfiniBand Node

Advantages of BladeSpace Computing Architecture

Green Computing
With BladeSpace servers, you can help preserve not only our green planet, but keep red ink off your books with green cash savings. A BladeSpace server can save more than 100 watts over a traditional discrete 1U rack-mount server. These savings add up quickly when your BladeSpace chassis is fully populated with 10 servers. By eliminating the overhead in 1U discrete servers and using the high efficiency (up to 93%) power supplies, BladeSpace can save you $700-$1,000 per year in power* for your servers and even more when you add the reduced cooling costs. At the same time, you will reduce your carbon dioxide emissions by over 5.5 metric tons**, the equivalent of planting 1.7 acres of trees.

*Your electricity costs will vary by location. **According to Energy Information Agency (a statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy), saving one kilowatt hour of electricity reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 1.43 pounds.

Remote Manageability
The chassis management module (CMM) provides total remote control of individual server blades, power supplies, cooling fans, and networking switches remotely. System administrators enjoy the management ease and reassurance of continuous onboard instrumentation monitoring (temperature sensors, power status, voltages and fan speed). Remote power control capabilities to reboot and/or reset the server are available as well as remote access to the BIOS configuration and operating system console information vial SOL (Serial over LAN) or embedded KVM capabilities. Because the controller is a separate processor, all monitoring and control functions operate flawlessly regardless of CPU operation or system power-on status.
